It's time to continue my photo series taken at the Astra Museum situated in Sibiu, Romania.
This is what a watermill looked like centuries ago. Unfortunately I don't have a closer photo, the museum is huge and it takes a whole day, from morning to evening to visit and photograph all. At least for me it does because I always want to photograph everything.
So there's the big wooden wheel that was placed in the water so the water power rotate the stones that were grinding the grain. Next to the big wheel you can see the so called "washing machine" that was made of wood and operated by the water.
Another water powered mill, that was so popular in those days. This is build uphill because it's part of the museum now but it was on water when it was functioning.
Another one made of stone this time and you can see the big stone that was used to grind grain.
Side view of the same mill, with two wooden made wheels. As you can see, all roofs are made of shingle.
Another one, a little cute one this time.
As you can see the water came from above, and could be controlled as it needed. One way was to the mill, the other to the "washing machine", which was that wooden structure made of wooden boards.
