Beer Review

The Cocoon is a 6.4% IPA brewed by the Relic Brewing Company in Plainville, Connecticut. Relic Brewing Company is a small batch, craft brewer that focuses mostly on IPA style beers, but over the winter I tried a few of their dark stouts and porters and they are also delicious. The Cocoon is a refreshingly floral IPA, brewed with Mosaic and El Dorado hops. It contains juicy, tropical notes of citrus, papaya and berries.

The Cocoon IPA is served in a 4-pack of full pint cans. The background of the can is a bright pink color and it features flowers, butterflies and caterpillars. As you can see, it's an attractive and colorful can. It looks like a perfect beer can for a hot summer day.

The Beer

The Cocoon IPA was clear and bubbly when I poured it into a glass. It had a yellowish orange tone. The beer had a smell of resin and floral pine. At first sip, I got a tropical and citrus sensation. The Cocoon was a refreshing and crushable IPA that went down the hatch easy at 6.4% alcohol/volume. I look forward to trying more beers from Relic Brewing Company in the future!
