Funeral Song - Relic Brewing Company
Beer Review
Funeral Song is an 8% Imperial Double IPA brewed by the Relic Brewing Company in Plainville, Connecticut. I have tried plenty of Relic Brewing Company beers and they are always consistently good. They bust out many different IPAs and Double IPAs year round. The name of the Funeral Song leads you to believe it is a dark-style beer, but once you pour it into a can you realize the bright floral notes the Funeral Song hits.

The Can
The can of the Funeral Song features a romantic couple of skeletons dancing, presumably to a 'Funeral Song' (although it looks more like they are dancing to a Wedding Song... because who dances at funerals?). Anyway, it definitely threw me off a bit. By the looks of the can I was assuming this would be a Stout or Porter, instead it was a bright and hoppy Double IPA.
The Beer
Funeral Song is a Citra based Double IPA which provides the beer with loads of fruity citrus and melon flavor. As I poured this into a glass I can smell how hoppy it was right off the bat. The beer foamed up with a nice frothy head and once settled it created a smooth golden color. The warming citrus hops matched finely with the carbonation creating a full-bodied mouthfeel. Overall it was a great beer, I would recommend it for any funeral.
