Death of Venus - Relic Brewing Company

Beer Review

Death of Venus is a 8.5% Imperial Milk/Sweet Stout brewed by the Relic Brewing Company in Plainville, Connecticut. I have tried plenty of Relic Brewing Company beers and they are always consistently good. As the name suggests, The Death of Venus is a dark and robust stout. Relic Brewing Company is a small batch, craft brewer that focuses mostly on IPA style beers, but over the winter I tried a few of their dark stouts and porters and they are also delicious.

The Can

The can of the Death of Venus is dark just like the beer inside. A number of ghastly skulls are located above the wording. Overall the can gives you a good warning of what you're about to get involved with. A deliciously lethal 8.5% alcohol creamy milk stout.

The Beer

Roasty and thick, the Death of Venus was just what you want in a good stout. When I poured this into a glass it had an almost perfect looking 1/4 inch head. It had a smokey, nutty flavor yet smelt of chocolate and espresso. At 8.5% alcohol/volume, just a couple of these is all you need to warm up on a cold winter's night.
