Out of the blue

Toy cars have been my favourite kind of toys during my childhood. As a matter of fact, I kept a bunch of them as a reminder of the joyful hours that I had spend playing with them, for many years after I stopped playing with toys altogether. I was at my forties when they finally disappeared from my life and although I had an uneasy feeling of loss, I can't say that I was devastated. I kind of miss them though, once in a while. Not to play with them but just to touch their scratched suffuse and reminisce looking their faded colours!

Of course I haven't told anyone about the loss of my toy cars, it was too insignificant even to mention it, in a casual conversation. Imagine my surprise, a couple of years later, when my oldest friend gave me as a present a toy car! It was totally out of the blue, but of course I loved it! It came to fill the gap that my missing toys left behind and it was new and shinning :)

The first thing I did with my new toy was to take it with me at a morning walk at the park and take a few pictures of it!

I was in Athens at the time, the park is Filopapou hill and the ancient thing in the background is the famous Parthenon, on the top of Acropolis of Athens!

Looking to the opposite direction is the sea and the port of Piraeus, the biggest port in Greece. And of course blocks of flats, lots of them! We were standing in the middle of a city with millions of residents and the higher level of the hill gave us an unobstructed view of the cement jungle around us!

And when I say we I refer, apart from myself, to @traisto and Marcos, our four legged friend that insists on escorting us, at every outdoor activity :)

The pictures were taken on the first day of 2020 and you can see in this post, a few more photos of that same shooting. The colour of the car looks a bit different in those pictures but only because I messed with the colours in editing, a little too much today :)

The first picture of this post is my entry to the Photo Quest competition by @qurator. There is plenty of time if you want to enter too :)
