As I mentioned in the review of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, this game had a sequel although it wasn't originally the main plan. I was doing some research on the origin of this game (Ghoul Patrol) and originally it was not going to be a sequel, but a totally separate game but it would be using the same graphic engine as Zombies Ate My Neighbors and although it was also developed by LucasArts, they eventually hired another smaller studio to finish the project, but in the end there were internal changes in the development and they decided that Ghoul Patron would be a direct sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors and because of this at a playable level you can feel some differences with respect to its prequel, although in general terms it maintains the same essence and fun, but it was a game that went somewhat unnoticed.

This time, unlike the first game, Ghoul Patrol at least has a central story, although it is not something extremely deep, it is quite simple and straightforward but it serves quite well to introduce us to the story that is being presented to us. Zeke and Julie return to the story and this time they find themselves visiting an exhibition of ancient magical artifacts inside a museum. But as things could not be that simple and calm, these two characters are in charge of opening a book which releases evil spirits and demons, so now this duo of protagonists must travel to different locations around the world to stop the evil that, unwittingly, they themselves have unleashed. Like its prequel, Ghoul Patrol maintains the same humorous tone and also has tributes to horror movies and the most famous creatures of the genre. In Zombies Ate My Neighbors we can witness a much more vivid, striking and varied color palette, the scenarios look brighter, so to speak, and visually, also personally, they look better, although this does not mean that Ghoul Patrol looks bad, it is quite the opposite, it is a pretty good game visually and graphically, but I just personally prefer the way its prequel looks. Ghoul Patrol I think has a better design of scenarios and scenery, as we can go to scenarios through time and we can witness the feudal Japan, the era of piracy, the medieval era and the future, all these scenarios enjoy excellent designs with their respective decorative elements that also stand out a lot on screen. Ghoul Patrol Zombies Ate My Neighbors is quite similar in several aspects to Zombies Ate My Neighbors, as I have shown throughout this review and of course in its mechanical aspect gameplay is also. So we are again facing a game where on par with saving people along the levels, we must also defeat any creature and ghostly entity that prevents us from doing our job, however this time it has certain new aspects that makes the jugabalidad is more frenetic and faster than its prequel, as the protagonists can slide along the ground, jump which will allow us to avoid some obstacles and now we will have a new set of weapons, which the latter aspect was necessary to add variety with respect to the ways to eliminate our enemies. However, although it also has an exploration factor, in Ghoul Patrol it is not as present as in Zombies Ate My Neighbors and this is because the levels are more linear, which encourages much more action, that's why the gameplay in Ghoul Patrol feels more frenetic and faster. Como mencione en la review de Zombies Ate My Neighbors, este juego tuvo una secuela aunque originalmente no era el plan principal. Estuve investigando un poco el origen de este videojuego (Ghoul Patrol) y originalmente no iba a ser una secuela, sino un juego totalmente aparte pero que estaría utilizando el mismo motor gráfico que Zombies Ate My Neighbors y aunque también fue desarrollado por LucasArts, estos al final contrataron a otro estudio más pequeño para terminar el proyecto, pero al final hubieron cambios internos en el desarrollo y decidieron que Ghoul Patron si sería una secuela directa de Zombies Ate My Neighbors y debido a esto a nivel jugable se puede sentir algunas diferencias con respecto a su precuela, aunque en términos generales mantiene la misma esencia y diversión, pero fue un juego que paso algo desapercibido.

Esta vez a diferencia del primer juego, Ghoul Patrol al menos cuenta con una historia central, aunque tampoco es algo sumamente profundo, sino que es bastante simple y sencillo pero sirve bastante bien para adentrarnos a la historia que se nos está presentando. Zeke y Julie vuelve a la historia y esta vez se encuentran visitando una exhibición de artefactos mágicos antiguos dentro de un museo. Pero como las cosas no podrían ser así de simples y tranquilas, estos dos personajes se encargan de abrir un libro el cual libera espíritus malignos y demonios, por lo que ahora este dúo de protagonistas deberán viajar a diferentes localidades del mundo para detener el mal que, sin querer, ellos mismos han liberado. Al igual que su precuela, Ghoul Patrol mantiene el mismo tono humorístico y además de tener homenajes al cine de terror y a las criaturas más famosas del género. En Zombies Ate My Neighbors podremos presenciar una paleta de colores mucho más viva, llamativa y variada, los escenarios se ven más brillantes, por decirlo de algún modo y visualmente, también personalmente, se ven mejor, aunque esto no quiere decir que Ghoul Patrol se vea mal, es todo lo contrario, es un juego bastante bueno a nivel visual y gráfico, pero solo que a mí en lo personal prefiero como se ve su precuela. Eso sí, Ghoul Patrol creo que cuenta con un mejor diseño de escenarios y decorados, ya que podremos ir a escenarios a través del tiempo y podremos presenciar al Japon feudal, la era de la piratería, la era medieval y el futuro, todos estos escenarios gozan de excelentes diseños con sus respectivos elementos decorativos que igualmente destacan mucho en pantalla. Ghoul Patrol es bastante continuista en varios aspectos a Zombies Ate My Neighbors, como lo he demostrado a lo largo de esta review y por supuesto en su aspecto mecánico jugabilidad también lo es. Por lo que estamos nuevamente ante un juego donde a la par de salvar a personas a lo largo de los niveles, también debemos derrotar a cualquier criatura y entidad fantasmal que nos impida hacer nuestra labor, sin embargo esta vez cuenta con ciertos aspectos nuevos que hace que la jugabalidad sea más frenética y rápida que su precuela, ya que los protagonistas podrán deslizarse por el suelo, saltar lo cual nos permitirá evitar algunos obstáculos y ahora contaremos con un nuevo set de armas, lo cual este último aspecto era necesario para añadir variedad con respectos a las formas de eliminar a nuestros enemigos. Sin embargo aunque también tiene u factor de exploración, en Ghoul Patrol no está tan presente como en Zombies Ate My Neighbors y esto se debe a que los niveles son más lineales, lo que incentiva mucho más la acción, por eso es que la jugabilidad en Ghoul Patrol se siente más frenética y rápida.
