Dried fish is one of the most common dishes that the Filipino love to eat. We can make it as a viand of champorado, vegetable dish (utan bisaya), sometimes good as appetizers, and many others.
Ingredients:
- Dried fish
- 3 - 5 pieces of tomatoes
- 2 pieces of onions
- 4 pieces of garlic
- 3 - 5 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Preparation:
- Wash the dried fish.
- Cut into 2 or 3 pieces.
- Slice tomatoes, onions, and garlic
- Prepare the vegetable oil and the pan.
Procedures:
- Heat the oil in a plan.
- Saute the onions and garlic.
- Add the slice dried fish until it will become brown.
- Add the sliced tomatoes. Stir.
- Continue to saute for 3- 5 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving plate.
- Serve.
This food can be serve in breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If this food is one serve mostly you can eat more rice because it is good for our appetite.
I also remember in my elementary grade that we used to have our provision (baon) in school that we wrap with the leaves of the banana that whenever you open it you really love to eat. It can be cooked in many varieties such as fried, grilled, steamed and many others.
It is also one of the gifts or presents (pasalubong) by most Filipinos when they go to other countries. One of our towns here in the Cebu, Philippines is considered Dried Fish Capital is known as Bantayan Island. It is located in the Northern part of Cebu. It is composed of three municipalities such as Santa Fe, Bantayan, and Madridejos. Most of the boneless rabbitfish (danggit) are they popular in the town.
