HELLO FAMS,
Recently i have been learning new STUFFS (we learn everyday, right?), especially in the aspect of digital portrait illustrations. I came across a technique called shape to shape blending; a skin shading style used in portrait illustration.
Shape to shape blending is used in creating forms in artwork, from a 2D artwork to a photorealistic artwork (if you are really good at it, you can create complex artwork with it). Here, a highlight/shadow from the face is drawn, and is duplicated, the second shape duplicated is reduced in size, and the two shapes are selected and blended together to form a nice smooth hightlight or shadow of the image.
"lol...This is a simple way i can explain this but i will do a tutorial on this, to give an elaborate explanation."
