Mikazuki, Parramatta ~ Seriously good Japanese

PicsArt_01-25-11.31.21.jpg

I made the rare trip down the mountain yesterday for a long over due mother/daughter date.

With my daughter neck deep in her studies and HSC preps over the last year we haven't really spent much time together. But now that school is over, and she's taking a year off we're resuming our lunch dates!

Over the years we've always had our favourite places like the shushi train at Blacktown, or Sicilian or one of the Thai places at Parramatta.

I had considered taking her to the Bavarian Bier Cafe (our venue for the Sydney Steemit meet-up last May) but I wanted to try a new place and she felt like sushi. A quick google search gave me a list of all the japanese restaurants in Parramatta and from the pictures and reviews I decided we should try Mikazuki.

Mikazuki, Parramatta

Mikazuki is located within walking distance to the train station and everything else in Parramatta. It is actually on the side of the University of Western Sydney building, opposite the high school.

It was about 1pm when we rocked up to a packed house. Having spent an hour freezing at my mountains station (thanks for the dodgy tip tripgo!) and another 1.5 hours on the train (thank god for Netflix downloads!), by the time we got there I was starving.

I was in the middle of considering another Japanese place when a lovely waiter saw us and showed us two seats by the back corner (perfect!).

Food, glorious food!

The reason I picked Mikazuki was because of the drool worthy menu and great food presentation.

Here's a few screenshots of the Mikazuki, Parramatta Menu.

I kinda knew it was gonna be great. We had walked from the station to there and saw other restaurants quiet and empty along the way. Mikazuki was packed, and I mean PACKED. It's a miracle we got a seat so quickly (someone up there is looking after us!)

When a joint is packed you kinda know it's got something going for it. And it totally does!

We ordered...

Not wasting much time simply because my grumbling stomach wouldn't allow further food delays we quickly ordered.

Sashimi Tacos

Something different!

Seriously off the hook delish! I could have easily downed 6 of these no problems.

California Roll

A classic must have, but pretty standard.

Chicken Nanban Don

Cos sister needed her rice fix and well, just look at it! 🤤

We both ordered this for our mains. I dont know if this dish was just too rich with the sauce or maybe we over ordered, but we struggled in the end to finish it.

Every single bite, from every single dish we had was delicious and I was one happy stuffed piggy after all that.

The price, I thought was quite good. We spend about the same when Hubby and I have breakfast on weekends and this is much finer quality food.

Would we go back?

Hells yeh! I'm giving them a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

.5 deduction on the squishy venue.

That said I am still considering this as our next meet up spot. Venue wise its not as photo worthy as the Bier Cafe, but the food is damn good!

If you're out at Parra and enjoy Japanese food, I highly recommend Mikazuki. Just try not to get there at lunch time peak with your squad or you could have seating problems šŸ˜‰

I hope you all have a great Friday and for my fellow aussies, have a safe Australia Day long weekend!
