I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay. There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here mainly because I find them an interesting way to look back at the past.
I don't know a whole lot about the ultimate origins of this batch of slides other than they came from Goodwill. Like previous batches, these too often have a date stamped on them that I assume indicates when the film was developed and should in most cases give approximate dating for the photograph itself. So far these photos seem to mostly come from a European (or at least France and Italy)vacation, at least from the photos I've been able to identify so far.
All of the slides in this set have the date of August 1970 stamped in them. There's not much that makes it easy to identify where most of them were taken but I suspect that continuing from the last set, they were taken in Italy and maybe France.
The first photo was taken from the top of a hill somewhere looking down towards a valley. It's hard to see but it looks like there is a bridge and a couple of tunnels down there.
The next two photos look like they were taken in someone's home though I suppose it could be some sort of hotel as well.
The last photo I can say was likely taken in Italy. The sign next to the watermelon is in Italian and while I don't know Italian, Google Translate tells me the translation is "The Special watermelon Feta always frozen"...plus there is a price. That translation is a little clunky but you get the idea.
