A recent survey that was conducted by Cowen Inc., a financial research firm, suggests that a growing number of people in the U.S. today are making the decision to move away from broadcast television in favor of alternative entertainment options like Netflix. With U.S. consumers, it's reported that Netflix is the top choice at the moment for viewers watching at home.
It's suggested that their spending on new and original programming for 2018 might surpass $13 billion.
It's estimated that the average person living in the U.S. spends half their day staring at a screen.

The number of people, who prefer to cut the cord and opt for alternative entertainment streaming services, continues to grow.

More people today are deciding to let go of the television because they can easily consume media from a variety of other sources like Youtube or news websites etc, using their phone or laptop. Netflix is making that easy for them, with ideas like their smart downloads tool that enables viewers to have their favorite television shows automatically deleted from their phone and replaced with a new episode, after they've finished watching the content.
Millions of Netflix subscribers are located in the United States, but their list of international subscribers has been growing, as there has been growing adoption of streaming services in other countries. They've managed to establish lucrative markets in places like Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.
It's estimated that they've got over 100 million subscribers now around the world. But they're still spending a great deal on creating their content which means that they've got a lot of debt. Netflix previously admitted in a letter to shareholders in 2017 that they would continue to spend lavishly on producing new content and that this would mean staying in the negative for years to come.
