I was regarded as a health freak by my friends quite early in life when I was about 17 years old and it went on to define my life experience. About a year later I stumbled upon a health book owned by my mum and got hooked on the idea of staying healthy but before then I had gone into body building with a friend.
At the age of 28 I was diagnosed with heart disease (basically the left side of my heart was expanding) this came as a huge shock to me and it compelled me to dive into the internet then for answers. I found out from my cardiologist that it was as a result of stress and I would have to be on maintenance medication for the rest of my life. The stress I understand was from a program which I had recently undertaken where I was giving presentations every other day and writing tests the remaining days for a year. I couldn't afford the medications so after a month I quit against my doctors advise then I decided to go another route (alternative medicine) where I was told that I had blocked arteries and my heart was finding it difficult to move blood around so the forceful pumping of the heart which is a muscle was causing the expansion. Long story short I took the medication diligently went back to my cardiologist for a test and was confirmed to have healed miraculously.
I have since continued with my healthy living escapades and made a friend with a nutritionist who taught me how to stay healthy on an alkaline diet and now I'm going into keto diet which is really enjoyable for me because it makes me not to crave foods which I've always had problems with; having had issues with insulin resistance in the past.
I really believe in staying healthy from food alone (doing some exercise to stay strong) and it has worked for me through the years.
