What Our Small Business Looks Like in the Public Market

I have been seeing various markets from all over the world through this community, plus the idea that people love sharing their shopping hauls or just a quick errand from a boutique or store. I get to witness the cozy shops and unique products displayed inside - thanks to @dswigle for this Market Friday community.

As someone who grew up with parents who manage a business in the public market here in the Philippines, I also got attached to the environment and how buy-and-sell works. Like what I mentioned before, we have this small stall where my parents sell different condiments, fruits, and vegetables every single day. Let me show you how it looks like and see if it's similar to what you have been seeing in your place.

Since I was born, my parents were already vendors and the business continued up until now that I am on my 20s. We never really let go of this business since this is where my parents get their source of income, and it helped us survive in so many ways, aside from the financial aspect.

Here's the table from our stall:

As you can see, we are selling several condiments and vegetables. Our business is a buy-and-sell, where my parents buy everything from suppliers and sell them with added price for profit. Since they cannot travel to purchase them directlly on manufacturers, they had to connect with middle-man suppliers that sells the products with additional price too.

Now let me show you the different kinds of vegetables that we sell:

These vegetables were the first basic ingredients in most of the meals, and it's my parents' main objective, that if a customer is planning to cook something, they can already buy the initial ingredients with us without looking for another stalls.

But aside from the vegetables, we also sell condiments used in cokking:

So, that's it. This is how our small business look like, and the kind of products we sell. As you can see, my parents made sure to sell the ones that people use daily in their cooking so they can be sold faster.

As of the moment, my parents still manage the stall and we cannot let it go since it's still helping us financially. Maybe someday, one of us will be managing it once our parents could no longer handle the business well. I hope you enjoyed my #marketfriday entry!
