Today, I Learned How to Play Cribbage!

Well, I tried to learn how to play Cribbage, that is. My library is starting to host monthly game days, and a senior citizen inquired as to whether there would be a cribbage table. Why not? I spread the word as best I could, and made sure space was available.

Unfortunately, no one else showed up to play.

Fortunately, it was a slow enough day that I could give it a try.

Unfortunately, she was not a good teacher.

Fortunately, I have Hoyle's in the collection. There was also some helpful advice from new librarian Mr. S.

I'm not sure I have everything squared away, but I know the significance of 15 and 31. I'm starting to grasp the nuances of what goes in the crib versus what I retain in hand. I can see why people who play tend to be a bit obsessive.
