Her Favourite Person

"......he was so mean, do you think I should forgive him?”

"......maybe you can later, but what he did was terrible airing you like that.”

“I know right?”

“Let’s just wait till tomorrow, and see how it goes.”

“Talking to you makes me so happy. Thanks for always being attentive.”

“Anytime.❤️”

Sheila smiled contentedly as she closed her laptop. She was so happy to have a friend like Sukuna031. Yes, she knew that they’d never met, and she didn’t even know this person’s gender, but the feelings they’d shared were unlike anyone she’d ever known.

Sheila didn’t have a lot of friends which was a sugar-coated truth because, in reality, she had no friends at all. She came across a website one day, an anonymous website where people could chat and comment on things but their identity was unknown. No personal pictures were allowed and all of that. And after sharing the same love for a particular sci-fi series, Sheila became close friends with Sukuna031.

She’d tried to guess if he was a guy or a girl but with their nature of conversations it was really hard to tell. So she focused on the fact that this person was always there for her, and didn’t worry about the gender anymore.

Time passed and the short days, passed into weeks, passed into a full year and at this point, Sheila had become addicted to her anonymous friend. She felt this person knew her more than her own mother. She always couldn’t wait to leave school so she could share the day’s highlights with who had become her favourite person in the whole world. And so, to celebrate their first anniversary as anonymous friends, they decided to break the anonymity and finally meet each other face to face. Sheila was beyond elated. She knew this would be a turning point for their friendship so she hoped with everything in her, that it would turn out well.

To be able to identify themselves, they decided to wear a t-shirt with a picture of their favourite sci-fi novel printed on it. They planned to meet each other at the central park by the benches overlooking the fountain by noon sharp. Sheila was already there by 11.30 am. She was that eager to meet her favourite person.

Noon came and Sheila was waiting, searching with sharp eyes for a blue t-shirt from The Dragon’s Lair. Five minutes passed and she broke into a cold sweat, ten minutes later and her vision began to cloud.

Had she been stood up?

She got up from the bench still searching and was about to turn home when her peripheral vision sighted an apparition barreling towards her. She wiped her tears immediately and tuned fully to look, her breath catching in her throat.

She gasped. Were her eyes deceiving her because coming towards her, with a bewildered look on his face was Dean? The guy who she had tried since third grade to notice her? Who had always acted so cold and indifferent to her? Who she always ran home to her anonymous friend to cry to about her latest feat at capturing his heart which had proven futile? That was her Sukuna031??

They looked at each other. All their experiences passed before their eyes. Their shared dreams, their hopes, and their deepest darkest secrets all flashed before them. He was the first person to break the silence.

“So.....Bashira221,” he said, holding his hand out. “can we take a walk?”

Blushing so hard she felt she would combust, Sheila put her hand in his. It was the most beautiful feeling ever. And for the priciest item, she would never trade this special moment.
