October is coming. Oktoberfest celebrations are being planned. Seasonal beers for autumn have been released. Let's give one a try!
Ninkasi Brewing Company is located in Eugene, Oregon and is another of the northwestern microbreweries that have been proliferating like crazy in the past decade or so. They tend to be a bit more on the expensive side, and seem to offer the usual array of hoppy IPA-style beers. It's also not exactly cheap compared to other beers in the grocery store beer case, but this bottle in question is more like a typical lager and it was on a slight sale, so I decided to give it a try.

Opinions
It's a bit hoppy, but few northwestern microbrews are not. This one isn't offensively over-hopped though, in my opinion. It's also smooth and crisp enough. The taste is slightly sweet up front, with a bitterness-dominated aftertaste. There's definitely a malty flavor and aroma, too.
All told, I'd recommend giving it a try. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but I enjoy it.
It also feels like it's clearing the smoke out of my throat, so that's a plus, too!
Now I need to choose some pumpkin beers to offer some compare-and-contrast posts at some point this fall...
