Themed "Culture and Traditions" Painting Competition in Vigan's Kannawidan, Philippines

Only recently that Vigan and other municipalities have started having painting competitions during fiestas. With these, Ilocano artists have been having recognitions in their own right, without forgetting our very own artist of @walkofhope, in the person of @flabbergast-art who was one of the judges during last year's Kannawidan. With pride I can say that a lot do have talents, even in my own town. Painting studios and hotels are now getting recognitions for the paintings that they showcase and display. One hotel as such is #hotelluna who have an original painting of the world renowned juanluna.

With great promise from the province' own artists, the yearly KANNAWIDAN have been including on-the-spot painting competitions at the Trade Fair.

These are the judges' choices on display till last February 14th. Although the heat drove some of us locals away during the competition, a couple of stalls were created where all paintings, including the winners of last year were on display.

Only recently that Ilocano artists are getting noticed and growing here in Northern Philippines where demands on commission works and exhibits in Manila are growing in numbers. It seems so different on how it was a couple of decades ago.

In celebration of the Ilocano culture and traditions, Kannawidan is just a way of sharing, celebrating and showing to the world our Ilocano pride, talents, produce and crafts.
