Wow, one year passed since I wrote about the possibilities of Bitcoin investments in addition to holding it . In the post I show some opportunities in other blockchains such as Stella, where you have a token yBTC paired to BTC that gives you a certain Apy. I also went a bit superficial about a 2nd layer of BTC called Stacks (STX). Stacks is a blockchain designed to bring smart contracts and dApps using the Bitcoin security. The smart contracts can interact with the Bitcoin main layer in addition.

I have been around for more than a year now in the blockchain and I learned to deal with some dApps there, especially those that I am interested in using in investing. Stacks has a native stacking which gives 10% of Apr in BITCOIN. That's correct you stake stacks and get BTC. There are basically to popular wallets that support Stacks and BTC at the same time: Xverse and Leather. To be frank I never tried Leather wallet so I won't give much opinion. I have been using Xverse for a long time now and I am ok with that. One limitation of the staking is that you need a minimum of 100 Stacks to stake. The staking occurs by cycles, each cycle is around 2100 Bitcoin blocks, or around 2 months. You can stake per cycle, you can choose between 2 to 24 cycles, with no possibility of unstaking. That's why some projects brought the liquid stacking option.

Here in Hive VSC is implementing the liquid staking of HBD, but in Stacks blockchain at least two projects have already liquid staking of Stacks. You just swap Stacks by their tokens paired with Stacks and you start getting yields with tokens that you can move around and do whatever you want. You can even switch back to regular STX anytime.

Stacking Dao is probably one of the most popular liquid stacking projects in the blockchain. You have to options . Converting STX to stSTX (liquid stacking with STX Yield) with 9.49% APY or converting STX to stSTXbtc (liquid stacking with sBTC yields, wrapped BTC on the stacks blockchain) with 9.21% APY.

Lisa Labs is another option for liquid stacking of STX, here your STX tokens will be converted to liSTX tokens. However, the APY is lower compared to the Stacking dao option. Here we are talking about 6.8% of APY.

Comparision liSTX and stSTX

So Lisa option is completely worse than the previous one? why should I choose this one? Well, liSTX can be converted anytime back to STX, while stST,X you need to wait for the end of the cycle, usually they show in their platform how long does it take for the end of the cycle, right now the cycle is ending in the next 5 days, but remember each cycle takes up to 2 weeks.

Going to DeFi options

The beauty of using liquid stacking doesn't stop only in the possibility of unstacking faster. We can also invest these tokens. For example, I can borrow stSTX or liSTX, swap or even add in liquidity pools.

In this platform, you can find Liquidity pools that accept stSTX. The most famous is the pair STX and stSTX which you can earn around 5% on top. So you are getting 9.49% of the stacking and more 5% on top of it, isn't it nice? In addition you have other LPs that could be interesting, I always like the idea of having BTC pairs, such as sBTC(wrapped BTC)/STX

Alex was created by the same devs from Lisa. In the past they had some LPs with liSTX but they reduced the current LPs a lot after a hacking attack. Actually, they were hacked twice since I joined. So Why I am recommending this dAPP if our assents were insecure twice! One time is bad, two times is worst! Well, they returned all the lost tokens TWICE. Last time not while ago they paid me what they couldn't recover in USDC. They have a type of insurance. As a consequence of the novel attack they reduced the number of pools for now. You can still do liquid stacking of their token (ALEX) and also do the liquid stacking of aBTC. Where to go then ?

I will be frank all funds returned from ALEX, I decided to split. For now liSTX don't have many options to make many things in the DeFi, while stSTX you currently have some options (in addition to Bitflow, you have other dapps with other options). I still have with ALEX investments in the aBTC/aUSD, it is cool to have BTC paired with a stable coin. But right now my STX is stacked in stSTX and paired with STX. I am still worried about going full in Alex despite of their honesty and funds returned quite fast! But how many times will they be hacked again? Will they be able to resist more hacking attacks?

Estou no blockchain há mais de um ano e aprendi a lidar com alguns dApps, especialmente aqueles que tenho interesse em usar em investimentos. O Stacks tem um sistema de empilhamento nativo que dá 10% da abril em BITCOIN. Isso mesmo, você faz o staking de stacks e recebe BTC. Existem basicamente duas carteiras populares que suportam Stacks e BTC ao mesmo tempo: Xverse e Leather. Para ser sincero, nunca experimentei a carteira Leather, então não vou dar muita opinião. Uso a Xverse há muito tempo e estou tranquilo com isso. Uma limitação do staking é que você precisa de no mínimo 100 Stacks para fazer o staking. O staking ocorre por ciclos, cada ciclo tem cerca de 2100 blocos de Bitcoin, ou cerca de 2 meses. Você pode fazer o staking por ciclo, podendo escolher entre 2 e 24 ciclos, sem possibilidade de desfazer o staking. É por isso que alguns projetos trouxeram a opção de staking líquido.

Aqui no Hive, a VSC está implementando o staking líquido de HBD, mas na blockchain Stacks, pelo menos dois projetos já têm staking líquido de Stacks. Você simplesmente troca Stacks por seus tokens pareados com Stacks e começa a obter rendimentos com tokens que você pode movimentar e fazer o que quiser. Você pode até voltar para STX normal a qualquer momento.

A vantagem de usar o empilhamento líquido não se limita à possibilidade de desempilhamento mais rápido. Também podemos investir nesses tokens. Por exemplo, posso pegar emprestado stSTX ou liSTX, fazer swap ou até mesmo adicionar pools de liquidez.

Nesta plataforma, você encontra pools de liquidez que aceitam stSTX. O mais famoso é o par STX e stSTX, com o qual você pode ganhar cerca de 5% a mais. Então, você recebe 9,49% do stacking e mais 5% a mais, não é legal? Além disso, você tem outros LPs que podem ser interessantes. Alex foi criado pelos mesmos desenvolvedores da Lisa. No passado, eles tinham alguns LPs com liSTX, mas reduziram bastante os LPs atuais após um ataque hacker. Na verdade, eles foram hackeados duas vezes desde que entrei. Então, por que estou recomendando este dAPP se nossos consentimentos foram inseguros duas vezes? Uma vez é ruim, duas vezes é pior! Bem, eles devolveram todos os tokens perdidos DUAS VEZES. Da última vez, não faz muito tempo, eles me pagaram o que não conseguiram recuperar em USDC. Eles têm uma espécie de seguro. Para onde ir então?

Serei franco: todos os fundos devolvidos pelo ALEX, decidi dividir. Por enquanto, o liSTX não tem muitas opções para fazer muitas coisas no DeFi, enquanto o stSTX tem algumas opções (além do Bitflow, você tem outros dapps com outras opções). Ainda tenho investimentos em ALEX no aBTC/aUSD; é legal ter BTC pareado com uma stablecoin. Mas, no momento, meu STX está empilhado no stSTX e pareado com o STX. Ainda estou preocupado em ir com tudo, Alex, apesar da honestidade deles e dos fundos terem sido devolvidos tão rápido! Mas quantas vezes eles serão hackeados novamente? Será que conseguirão resistir a mais ataques de hackers?
