# Houston! We Have a Problem ![POr que (1).png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/manuphotos/23x154ycinLRNT7tpeycrbCqnvNrhQ7oVuogGMd2GynkHwfdVJucThn26g1bsgZ7BiUhH.png) We have all seen how the value of Hive has been steadily decreasing for quite some time. We attribute it to how bad the market is and the crypto winter, but although for a while I do believe it was because of that, now another variable comes into play: CONVERSIONS. ### What is a Conversion? It's nothing more than the simple process of changing from Hive to HBD or vice versa. It works a bit differently on both sides, but basically, the average price over the next 3.5 days is taken, and based on that, the blockchain changes one token for the other. Both generated tokens are new tokens that enter circulation. ### Why are these conversions a problem? Well, it's not the conversions themselves, but the large number of them being made from HBD to Hive by the HBD stabilizer. This is causing more Hive tokens to be created than normal, and therefore, the level of inflation is increasing. In case you didn't know, that's not good if you need to have a healthy economy. You can see how projected inflation has been exceeded for three months now in a recent [publication](https://peakd.com/hive-133987/@dalz/available-hive-supply-what-is-it-inflating-faster-than-the-regular-supply-sjhvmz) by @dalz. **But until now, these conversions weren't a problem. What changed?** In simple terms, it's an increase in the number of conversions to Hive, creating more tokens and, therefore, greater inflation. The stabilizer makes these conversions when the price of HBD detaches from the dollar to try to bring it back to its value. The big problem comes when HBD decreases in value and therefore falls below the dollar, so the stabilizer starts buying HBD to raise the value and return it to the peg. This means it must first convert the HBD it holds to Hive through... (drum roll): Conversions. Yes, as you read, to buy HBD, it must first convert the HBD it holds into Hive, simply because the stabilizer is funded by the Hive Decentralized Fund (DHF) since it is a proposal and, therefore, only receives HBD. This conversion creates new Hive tokens and then sells them in the internal market to be able to buy HBD and bring it to the dollar price. This is what has been happening to a greater extent lately, and you can see a bit more in this [publication](https://peakd.com/hive-133987/@dalz/data-on-the-hbdstabilizer-performance-or-hbd-added-in-the-dhf-and-removed-from-circulation-sjoxmx) by @dalz. **Yes, all very strange, perhaps. But I haven't told you yet when the change is.** Well, let's get to what I believe is the big change compared to other times and it's not in how the stabilizer works. However, I must mention that I am neither an expert in economics, nor should everything I say be taken literally, I could easily be wrong, and if so, comment, which is ideal for us all to seek an explanation for what is happening. --- # The Change In itself, until now this wasn't a problem, but certain conditions have arisen that add to how the crypto market is currently. The biggest of these conditions, in my opinion, right now, is the number of proposals being funded by the DHF or rather, the amount of HBD being sent to various projects in Hive. But this is not a bad thing and also only 10% of the inflation is allocated to the DHF (you would say, and I said a short while ago). Well, it's not quite like that. First of all, you have to see how projects act, and it's not for nothing that they create a proposal. They need liquidity and therefore, that HBD they obtain is converted to Hive and sold on exchanges around the world. So we are slowly draining the Hive token without funding projects that have Hive or HBD within their business plan many times, or rather, that many times do not have a business plan. I am not saying that the decentralized fund should be eliminated, although perhaps better valuing the proposals that are accepted is needed. Whether they truly bring utility to the ecosystem or not. But that's a topic that warrants many publications. What I do want to do is provide a possible solution, as I have never liked pointing out a problem if I don't have a possible solution at hand. # The P2P Now is when you tell me that that's older than the wheel and that we already have one in the internal market. I know it seems simple, but I'm not talking about a P2P to exchange Hive and HBD for HBD and Hive. I'm talking about HBD or Hive to Fiat or other cryptocurrencies, which is ultimately what projects or even any person in Hive end up doing to finance what they need. Only instead of going through an exchange where you end up selling the token, you will be making your tokens change hands simply. Cubans will already be somewhat familiar with this, as they have been using one that the Cuban community has created for several months. Every fulfilled offer has ended in an exchange where both people have moved the token or fiat, but without selling or buying as such. A P2P will not directly influence the price of Hive. It is not being sold, nor are new tokens being created. Best of all, we have managed to do this without going through a KYC and even without fees thanks to the Delegations system that exists in Hive. So it's something even simpler to see for a blockchain where every project seeks to achieve decentralization and depending less on exchanges is something to pursue. Especially when we talk about HBD, which has so little liquidity in these and ends. @hivecuba.p2p is an open-source project so anyone can create their version and we already have a way to add other countries or communities to the one we have implemented. It only remains for other communities within Hive to see the need we have for it and contact us or create their own. Although, as I say, it's still on the way, but very close to becoming a reality. @vsc.network is, in my opinion, the most practical solution to attract liquidity to Hive, especially in order to make exchanges to or from Bitcoin more easily. Without going through a KYC, quickly and fully decentralized. Not to mention that Bitcoin will not be the only asset added to the network. # ¡Houston! Se lo atribuimos a lo mal que está el mercado y el cripto invierno, pero aunque por un tiempo sí creo que ha sido por ello, entra ahora otra variable a jugar un papel determinante: las CONVERSIONES. ### ¿Qué es una Conversión? No es más que el simple proceso de cambiar de Hive a HBD o viceversa. Funciona un poco distinto hacia ambos lados, pero básicamente se toma el precio medio dentro de los siguientes 3.5 días y basado en ello es que la blockchain cambia un token por el otro. Ambos tokens generados, son tokens nuevos que entran en circulación. ### ¿Por qué estas conversiones son un problema? Bueno, no son las conversiones en sí, sino la gran cantidad de ellas que se están haciendo de HBD a Hive por parte del estabilizador de HBD. Esto está generando que se creen más tokens de Hive de lo normal y que, por tanto, el nivel de inflación crezca. Por si no lo sabes, eso no es nada bueno si se necesita tener una buena economía. Pueden ver como se está superando la inflación proyectada desde hace ya tres meses, en una reciente [publicación](https://peakd.com/hive-133987/@dalz/available-hive-supply-what-is-it-inflating-faster-than-the-regular-supply-sjhvmz) de @dalz. **Pero hasta ahora esas conversiones no eran un problema. ¿Qué cambio?** En términos simples, es un aumento de la cantidad de conversiones hacia Hive, creando más tokens y, por tanto, una mayor inflación. El estabilizador hace estas conversiones cuando el precio de HBD se despega del dólar para buscar regresarlo a su valor. El problema grande llega cuando el HBD disminuye su valor y, por tanto, baja del dólar, por lo que el estabilizador comienza a comprar HBD para subir el valor y devolverlo al peg. Esto hace que primero deba convertir el HBD que posee a Hive mediante... (redoble de tambores): Conversiones. Si, como lo lees, para comprar HBD, debe primero convertir el HBD que posee en Hive, simplemente porque el estabilizador es financiado por el Fondo Descentralizado de Hive (DHF) dado que es una propuesta y, por tanto, solo recibe HBD. Pero aun no te digo cuando es el cambio.** Pues vamos a lo que yo creo es el gran cambio con respecto a otros momentos y no está en como funciona el estabilizador. Eso sí, les debo mencionar que ni soy un experto en economía, ni deben tomarse a rajatabla todo lo que digo, me puedo estar equivocando fácilmente y de ser así comenten, que es lo ideal para entre todos buscar explicación a lo que está pasando. --- # El cambio En sí, hasta ahora esto no era un problema, pero se han dado ciertas condiciones que se le suman a como está el mercado cripto actualmente. La mayor de estas condiciones en mi opinión, ahora mismo, es la cantidad de propuestas que están siendo financiadas por el DHF o más bien, la cantidad de HBD que es enviada a distintos proyectos en Hive. Pero esto no es algo malo y además es solo el 10% de la inflación lo que se destina al DHF (dirías tú y dije yo hace poco). Pues no es tan así. Primero que todo, hay que ver como actúan los proyectos y es que por gusto no crean una propuesta. Necesitan liquidez y por ello, ese HBD que obtienen, es convertido a Hive y vendido en exchanges de todo el mundo. Por lo que estamos drenando de a poco el token de Hive y sin estar financiando proyectos que tienen a Hive o HBD dentro de su plan de negocios muchas veces, o mejor dicho, que muchas veces no tienen un plan de negocio. No estoy diciendo que se deba eliminar el fondo descentralizado, aunque quizás sí valorar mejor las propuestas que son aceptadas. Si de verdad traen utilidad o no al ecosistema. Pero eso es un tema que da para muchas publicaciones. Lo que sí quiero hacer, es dar una posible solución, pues nunca me ha gustado señalar un problema si no tengo una posible solución a mano. # El P2P Ahora es cuando me dices que eso es más viejo que la rueda y que ya tenemos uno en el mercado interno. Ya sé que parece sencillo, pero no estoy hablando de un P2P para intercambiar Hive y HBD por HBD y Hive. Hablo de HBD o Hive hacia Fiat u otras criptomonedas que es al fin lo que terminan haciendo los proyectos o incluso cualquier persona en Hive para financiar lo que necesitan. Solo que en vez de pasar por un exchange donde terminas vendiendo el token, estarás haciendo que tus tokens cambien de mano simplemente. Los cubanos ya estarán algo familiarizados con esto, pues llevan ya varios meses usando uno que la comunidad cubana ha creado. Cada oferta cumplida ha terminado en un intercambio, donde ambas personas han movido el token o el fiat, pero sin vender o comprar como tal. Un P2P no influirá en el precio de Hive directamente. No se está vendiendo, ni creando nuevos tokens. Lo mejor de todo, es que hemos logrado que esto se realice sin pasar por un KYC e incluso sin fees gracias al sistema de Delegaciones que existe en Hive. Así que es algo, aún más sencillo de ver para una blockchain donde cada proyecto busca lograr la descentralización y depender en menor medida de los exchanges es algo a perseguir. Sobre todo cuando hablamos del HBD que tan poca liquidez posee en estos y termina. @hivecuba.p2p es un proyecto de código abierto para que cualquiera pueda crear su propia versión y que además ya tenemos la forma de sumar otros países o comunidades al que ya tenemos implementado. Solo queda que otras comunidades dentro de Hive vean la necesidad que tenemos de ello y nos contacten o creen el suyo propio.
